I so enjoy the images of the stubbin station.  I want to model the Reading Terminal.  How would those canopies look closed in? Oh and how do you avoid all the pigeon droppings on the engines trains and passengers?

Thanks Mike....The terminal is actually composed of ladder tracks on both ends.  The tracks go under the station and city where all 10 converge to a single track that sweeps under the city to the opposite side.

Jim at Bridgeboss actually offers the canopies closed in either as ordered with the shed sections or as a after market add on.

Ah yes...the "DD" (dreaded droppings)...uhmmm, the railroad addressed the problem years ago after thousands of complaints.  The results can be "tasted" in the fine station restaurant!!

These photos were originally posted on the Sunday Scenic Showcase last week.  I had just completed a new business for my town of Lebanon: Rick's Army & Navy store (named for my brother in law who was a Navy Seal in the Vietnam years).   I'm not sure how long the store will be staying open, due to the quasi-legal nature (even for the 1950's) of their product line.  You COULD so some serious hunting with their equipment though. 

The building is kitbashed Ameritown fronts with a Tichy fire escape on the exterior.  The signs were all done on my computer.  The interior was scratchbuilt except for a Berkshire Valley countertop.  The photo backdrop for the interior was found via Google and the guns, etc. in the  window displays are Tamiya.  Figures are Preiser and Model Power.  The guns themselves are 1/35 scale since the 1/48 versions were too small to show up well.  The interior is lit using the well-discussed LED strips that come in long reels.

How about a trolley track with a bumper at each end between the mountain and the village? Lay track where the stagecoach is now.

Maybe get a handcar shed and run a Gang Car in and out on that track. Something different  .  . 

Our Wednesday morning breakfast !

Not everyone is in the same gauge of model railroading, but we love to talk trains one morning out of the week. Last December, we had our own version of layout tours. The first 3 Saturdays of December we went around to everyone's layout, 3 to 4 layouts each Saturday and even the wives really seemed to enjoy this.  This breakfast in the middle of the week is great for all of us "older fellas".

Just wanted to share what is happening here in good ole' Springfield, Mo. If any of you are ever in the area, please stop by some Wednesday morning.

I took these photos of my new legacy F 3's and an ex Santa Fe caboose that I repainted.

I'm lucky to be part of two such groups.  The HiRailers meet for lunch every Thursday at various local restaurants.  There are 10 of us if everyone shows up.  Once a month or so, someone in the group hosts an evening open house that traditionally includes pie and ice cream. 

On Wednesday mornings, I belong to a round robin prototypical operating group of retired guys.  They are all HO modelers except me.  We meet at someone's house around 9 a.m., drink coffee for a half hour, then run trains from 9:30 until noon or so and end with lunch.  There are 8 layouts and 18 members in this group.  Usually 12 to 15 show up on a given Wednesday.

I received my new Legacy F3A-A set yesterday. They are beautiful.  I can hardly wait until the matching passenger cars are shipped. Until then, my O-27 pullman cars will have to suffice.

My daughter is a pharmacist.  Guess what National chain started her career?   That's a model of her, standing in the white lab coat, that was made by trainsformations.  My daughter-in-law is a dental hygienist, thus Miller's dentist sign.  That's a model of her, standing in the greenish outfit, that was also made by trainsformations (gosh I miss Marcie!!)

Awesome, SIRT. Love that WNEW sign on the bus. It brings back great memories.

Put a lift structure and chain on the coal tower's coal slide.... did a little more painting too.  

Roger, looks like a nice group of guys for breakfast.   I have belonged to such a group for over 35 years now but we used to meet on Thursday nights and still do once in a while.  It all started at a hobby shop after hours, then later moved to one of the member's home layout where we stayed for many years.  The host was also a Lionel repair man and would help us all with problems with our trains.  We would run trains or look at slides or movies for about an hour and then adjourn to a nearby restaurant for a late dinner.  When my friend became ill and unable to carry on this meeting we met at other member's houses and wound up at mine where we are now.  We started out with over 20 members but currently we are down to four regulars.  We have lost some of our group through death and guys moving away.  The friendships formed through this alliance have been invaluable.  I highly recommend these types of get togethers.  They are much more personal than train meets.  Some of my best friends of a lifetime have come from this group.

This week I took delivery of a Lionel Reading T1 that was upgraded to TMCC. A big Thank you to Walter Matuch for hooking me up with such a great engine. I got some work to do to it but it runs and sounds great.

We were down in TN last week and hit the train ride in Dollywood.  My 2 year old son had a blast, my 11 month old daughter fell asleep almost right away!

On the upper level doing passenger duty is MTH 4-8-2 Mohawk #3024 acquired this week from a fellow forum member.  On the lower level K-Line 4-8-4 Hudson #5335 pulling a short freight.

My blowout deal arrived...

Just finished scenicing the bridge for our club modular layout. This is River City 3 Railers MTH RTR M&M's set for the See-it, Hold-it, Run-it program. We setup for the Chesterfield County Fair today. Opens this coming Friday....

It's a sad day indeed in June of 1968 on the former "Standard Railroad of the World"  Foreign invaders help power a westbound at Duncannon a few months after the merger of the PRR and NYC...

FYI, the two lead units, both MTH U-25-B's are non-powered units being pushed along with ease by a Lionel TMCC NYC GP-30.  And don't despair...the PRR still lives on in my basement!

This weekend saw the arrival of a Lionel CSX SD80MAC, obtained from a fellow forum member, and  successful test runs. The MTH RDC's were restored to full sound operation with the addition of a capacitor to the PowerMaster. Again, thanks to help of forum members. See "Weekend at the Movies" to hear them.  Additions to the Superliner fleet are on order as well.
