This lithographed tinplate floortrain I have for some 30 years; It was made by Hess from Nuremberg, Germany. Hess is one of the first toy manufacturer. In 1826 Hess was founded by Mathias Hess who manufactured toys until he died in 1886. His son John Leonard Hess took over the company, which also explains the brand name JLH which is shown on the tankcar. They produced very inexpensive so called Penny Toys but these were of lasting quality, so there are still many well-preserved pieces today. I have one locomotive with 8 cars (i.e. a passenger or a freight train). I do not know if it was a boxed set.

When I was a kid, Dad would clean all the left overs out of the fridge and anything still fit to eat would be dumped in a pan along with a can of cream of potato soup. We all called it Cream of Leftover Soup.

Here's a little tinplate Cream of Leftover Soup! Marx 6" tank on a Marx scale tin caboose frame rolling on journal-less prewar Lionel trucks!

Find of the week is a MARKLIN passenger set in gauge 1 made between 1927-1932. Not a top of the line for Marklin but it makes a very nice set to match with one of my loco, a high voltage 040. Interesting fact is that the cars still have their original corridors or diaphragms. They are just in need of a little polishing.

Is Starsky's and Hutch's car coming in or going out???

well the focus of the pic was supposed to be Wyl E Coyote......

but since you asked.....The Torino is on it's way in. I'm in the crane, and the car is on it's way to be crushed. I had one, my second car. Saw the show, had to have one. Found one local, and got it painted. It was the biggest POS I've ever owned, but in the four years I had it, It at least taught me (with LOTS of help from my late Uncle Jim) how to work on cars. And I've been Ford free since 1984......

We very recently repainted the front room, and that gave me the impetus and time to take everything off the train table and dust everything before the Millennium engine came back from repair. Still rethinking what will go back on the layout, and may possibly do some editing....  So the layout looks quite a bit 'spartan' at present. Just got my birthday gift from my hubby, a MTH Z4000 that I call "the Monster". Will be firing this lovely gold set up this weekend.

Hi gang. Things have been a little crazy this week especially around the layout. You might even say things have been kind of looney toons!   Let's see your tinplate!!

That is way cool Joe!  I have to find one of those at some point.

Thanks Chris, Warner Brothers only released 250 of this puppy so they're not easy to find I found this guy on eBay a few months ago I've been looking for a long time and for one that was at a reasonable price. I grew up with these cartoons so I had to have it.
