It's Western Roads Wednesday and it's almost over and no posts. So I guess I'm the first today, and just in time, it's 11:30pm out here on the west coast.

Imagine it’s year 2002 and there’s a UP excursion passenger train, "The California Zephyr", being pulled by a SD70Ace in WP Legacy colors rolling into the station. Then a UP mixed freight pulled by another SD70Ace in the American flag, "Building America", slogan rolls through after the Zephyr has left the station for its next destination. All while an old SP SW8 switcher moves livestock cars to the cattle ranch nearby. The track side service team reviews the nights schedule and consist lists preparing for the nights duties. Just another day on the Western Road in Paradise.

Great video!!! And good that you remembered Western Roads Wednesday!!! I forgot all about it. Good job.

I am going to be working Saturday, so I will post these here instead of SWSAT:

I had stated on a previous “Workbench” post how I would never attept another redeaux on an RK model, and was asked ‘why?’.  It is primarily because the cab windows were next to impossible to remove and were thus destroyed…the window muntins were also destroyed in the process. Also, not a fan of molded grabirons.   Additionally, sharp eyed Q people will see that the Burlington long hood decal is too big. This decal set was made for a Uboat.  As usual, I learned a lot from doing the repaint and should do better on the next try.
Steve Allen Goen’s excellent book covering the Ft Worth & Denver Rwy. contains an amusing story about this NW2.

Rob,

I'm a big MTH fan and think you did a magnificent job, despite the hurdles and perceived imperfections. One of my few real issues with manufacturer MTH is their unwillingness to add some switchers to their excellent Premier Line.  An inability to jam smoke units into these diminutive shells should not have to be a limiting factor.  The only Premier Line switcher I can think of is their ALCo S-2, which is an elegant model; I own several.

I recently bought a RK SOO Line ALCo RS-1, which is a fantastic model, but now have to go through the process of de-trucking the locomotive in order to mount Kadee couplers.  Additionally, I must submit to accepting rubber traction tires which I dislike, to say the least.

Adding the 3-2 rail feature, Kadee compliant pre-drilled pilots, increased levels of detail and even offering "scale wheel" versions would be worth the additional price to this consumer.

Hats off to you for a good job of weathering, too!

Thanks for the reply info on the " WHY " Rob.

I'm not sure about a size difference between the RKs and the Premiers switchers .  Judging by the size of my Three RKs ( two Ps3 and one Ps2 )  that I have I wondered how could the Premiers be much larger. 🤔

Of course its a hands down win for details on the Premier over the RK.

I do remember using clear packaging plastic glued in the cab for windows and I added the cab figures by shaving off part of the bottoms and some shaving on their sides for my Ps2 RK.

The " BURLINGTON "  may be too large but it looks great to me .   Nice job.

Once again ,thanks Rob.
