Very nice there Joe. Looks like you call in the railroad surveyor, check the mountain ranges for good grades and get the work crews working. That has the makings of something which the likes no one has seen before....so, start on as soon as soon as you are able, and keep us all posted. Can't wait to see what you model, steam era, modern, etc., etc.

Congrats on becoming a Pa resident, you will need to change your Handle on the OGR now! With all that great space definitely consider FasTrack with Command Control Switches, man what a beautiful layout I can see using FTCC Switches, Legacy and DCS with all that space.
Ringgold, Pa real nice living in that community! - You will love it. Very similar to Murrysville, Pa Community wise, only in the eastern part of Pa. Real nice neighborhood.

Hang up a couple of hoops and play full court basketball. 
With that big of a basement I would order the lumber and start constructing the layout tables. Don't hesitate, my layout took 16 years to build and 5% still remains undone.

The shelves in the basement will eventually go, or be reused for the future layout construction. Maybe I can sell them and make a couple of bucks for the layout.
My wife has the upstairs, along with a nice kitchen and sun room, so she is happy. As well as a big garden.
The house and garage have a full attic that is 8' high in the center. Hmmm......maybe future expansion room.

Joe STAY in the basement look's like a walk out , you can back a truck load lumber wright to the door ,the only I see going to the ATTIC is STAIRS one step at a time .

I believe you are close to the oldest brewery in America and my favorite (Pottsville, PA), there is also a Cabela's nearby to get properly outfitted for the grouse and trout.

My first 24 years living in Minnesota exposed me to enough snow for a lifetime. I would love to have a basement, but not if it meant dealing with snow. BRRRR!

I know of a group of guy's with the call letters of RVHR that can put a modular layout into the basement that's 40 X 50 ft. for a basement break-in period, pre-ferably with beer & pizza to help kick off your motavation. Hay Joe,again congrats to you & Chris! (Hope my wife & I can come see your place sometime in the future). One more thing, I'll start moving some of that railroadianna stuff! Ha Ha!

Great looking space. Looks like one of the first things to do is support your local railroad and get one of the recent Reading Blue Mtn & Northern 425's since you are now in RBM&N country (especially when they run north through New Ringold up into Tamaqua and Mauch Chunk/Jim Thorpe. Also enjoy going to the numerous nearby Hamburg and Allentown train shows. Hawk Mountain is a hoot.

And I don't think you need to change your name from NJCJOE. I mean, what would you be? PRRJOE? ReadingRRJoe? Or you could really annoy Ben and become ErieLackawannaJOE. IMO, none of them have quite the same ring as NJCJOE. So I suggest sticking with it.

So many possibilities. Get some professional advice from experienced model builders, construction people, and home decorators so you optimize your use of space without having to redo anything. For example, do the lighting, electrical outlets, ventilation, and etc., need revision of any kind? How and where would a model railroad (I presume) fit in the overall scheme of things? Who else, besides you, will use the room on a regular basis? Then plan bigger than you need. The only thing holding you back will be time and money. Lastly, and ALWAYS - enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!

I have the beverage apparatuses covered. Debating if I want to add a bar at some point or not. I really can't wait to get back to brewing my own beer. 
You got me thinking.......a DCS operated beer tap could be interesting.

Congratulations Joe. The basement looks nice and dry. It also looks like the builder put down a good sealer to harden the cement. The cement in my basement gets powdery from walking on it, so I have to keep it covered to keep the dust down. Paint doesn't like sticking to it either. I'm not to far from you, about 30 minutes. I'm between Jim Thorpe and Summit Hill. You picked a very peaceful area. I did allot of bow hunting in the hills and farm country around New Ringgold back in the 80's. The deer are well fed down there. No hunting for me anymore though, just trains trains trains. Drop me an email if you need any help moving furniture in or would just like to meet some day. I just started construction a few months ago on a large staging yard for my future layout. You'll have to come over and check it out once you get settled in.
