A while ago I made a rough plan for a little 4x6 Marx layout to show off a bunch of the accessories I have and to use my Marx stuff on instead of my postwar Lionel layout. I never got it built but I'm thinking of going for it now. I'm torn on what to use for the ground cover. I don't want to just paint the OSB plywood I have for it because I don't think it would cover well. It'll be all tinplate and I want something to maintain the feel of the trains. What works well?

TJL824,

For my  Christmas Tin Plate layouts, either using Conventional Tubular or FasTrack, I have been using the grass green inside/outside light rug, over 3/4 Ply.  With the Conventional Tubular I put the Light Rug directly on to the 3/4 Ply, with the FasTrack I 1st put down acoustical sound absorbing Block Ceiling Tile, then the light green grass type inside/outside carpet over the tile,  this kills the FasTrack noise completely.

My Tin Plate layouts are multi level Child like Dream worlds at Christmas time.
