What Type of Car is This? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I visited the Catskills location of Rail Explorers in Phoenicia NY yesterday. They have a small train museum next to it. This car, next to the flat car, stood out because I’ve not seen one like it before. Does anyone know what it’s called?

BTW, the pedal trip down the line and back was great, but if you do it wear sneakers with a relatively flat bottom. I had hiking style shoes on and they kept slipping off the smooth metal pedals. Unfortunately they didn’t have a lock strap to keep your feet securely in place.

That is a side-dump car, generally used for dumping rocks/stone along the right-of-way.
