I was wondering if anyone has a source for the kind of wire MTH uses for their internal wiring inside locomotives. It seems that their wore is small gauge but strong and flexible. I have wire that is very flexible but not thin although the gaige is small. I have wire that is thin but to stiff. They seem to have wire different than any others. If someone knows where to get it please let me know. I am doing some TMCC installs and room is tight. Any help would be great.

All the wire is sourced from China or Korea. Your best bet is to look on Amazon or Mouser Electronics for similar wire. We have some teflon insulated bulk 30AWG(?) wire at MTH for PS3, but it is a bugger to strip.
I'm not sure why you'd want the MTH type wire. I dislike the fact that the insulation melts far too easily for the wire they use in the upgrade kits and most of the products.
The Teflon wire doesn't melt, but as stated, it's a bit of a PITA to work with.
Its 20-30 awg stranded wire, but its not copper wire, but like a silver strands.
Yep, I forgot to mention, it doesn't solder all that well. I think I'd have to be using lead-free solder to have a better experience with it, but I abhor the characteristics of working with lead-free solder.
Any 20 to 30 gauge stranded wire will work. It could be aluminum or copper.
I've been using this:

It's 22AWG stranded wire. Sort of have to live with whatever colors they have in the box, but there's 6 to choose from.
If I could have found smaller (28 or 30) I would have liked it better. Even 22AWG stranded feels a bit big and stiff when trying to collect it all under the shell.
Haven't had any issues soldering it, though.
I prefer finer wire for most internal wiring, I use #22 super-flex for pickups and motor connections.
I bought a bunch of 100 foot rolls of #28 wire from Jameco to replenish my supply.
I just got this from Amazon for $11. 10 meters each color. Very flexible silicone with tinned copper, 28 awg.

Thanks to all.
I got my wire and it is perfect. The silicone doesn’t melt and it solders easily. This will save a lot of space inside the locomotive. Thank you for all your help. I bought it from Amazon who delivered in 2 days.
Exactly what wire did you order?
The one that is pictured here on this post.

Duh, I was thinking of a link so I could actually see the product. Without specific search terms, there's a lot of wire.
Sorry about that chief here you go https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073...ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
