    I recommend 16 or 14 gage wire on all layouts, I use the good 14 Gauge Stranded wire for my DCS FasTrack Layout, it runs perfectly.  I use 16 or 18 gauge Stranded for my Legacy drops.

IMHO, the answer depends on how long your wires need to be / size of your layout.

Thanks.  FasTrack lenght is about 50 feet.

Based on the fact that the only dumb question is the one not asked,  here goes.

I use 14 Ga for all my connections to the track (Fastrack) and transformers, bricks, terminal strips. The trains are (4) conventional and (3) Legacy, all loops have a transformer/brick. Loops are 40 feet +/-.

What do you men by Legacy drops?

Is DCS for MTH only?
