Would you want a Live Webcam in your trainroom or at your club's layout?

Mr. Eric Siegel, is a leader in the Hobby of O Gauge Railroading who is always thinking out side the box. I have been following him on You Tube for many years and he makes Quality Videos about our hobby. He also runs a first class Open House for his trains, some of my friends have gone, and they were all extremely impressed with him, both as the host and his modeling skills.

I am asking this question as a form of Journalism and an OGR Member. I would like to know how many of our OGR Forum members would be willing to share your personal train layouts or club layouts, via 24 hour live Webcam.

Personally I would not want one in my basement 24 hours a day. Not even sure I would want one every once-in-a-while, but would give that idea some further consideration. I'm kind of old fashioned and more private. I can't seem to adjust to things like this or Facebook or some of the other places like that. Younger folks these days have different views on all this stuff.

I do appreciate others doing it though. I think they would be nice at clubs, but maybe only when club members are there working or running trains. Eric Siegel's youtube videos are some of the best I have ever seen and I do look forward to watching his webcams. I did finally sign up for Facebook just to follow Eric, Lionel and MTH.

Well said, John.

It's just another example of the unnecessary excesses that are so inherent with social media nowadays.    Not only would I not want 24x7 webcams in my home, I have absolutely no interest observing what's going on in other folks' homes either -- especially 24x7.

Visiting in person when somebody hosts an open house is one thing, and dare I say very much "socially acceptable" -- at least as we've come to know it.  But 24x7 webcams in private homes borders on the ridiculous... no matter who you are or how well-intentioned  the concept may be.

Posting a video with your home layout as a backdrop is one thing.  Allowing unfettered 24x7 access to a portion of your residence?  No way.    But with each passing day, there are more and more things going on that I just "don't get".    Go figure.
