WTB - Lionel or K-line 1983 Christmas Box Car

I hunted for you, but I only have  from  86 to 2001.  I would give it to you if I had it.

A way back I bought a big box full of Christmas cars from PTC for very little money. I have only used a few of them. I don't think many of them were run much if any at all.

    Thanks buddy, I have been looking for this Lionel 83 Christmas Box Car for some time now, that is the reason for my post, usually I find things that I want pretty quickly.  Not this 83 Christmas Box Car for some reason, and I do not even remember what it looks like, to picture it here for everyone to see.  I run the Christmas Box Car Train each year, the people who purchased most of those cars, run their trains with the Supreme Architect now, the Train is part of our Family Christmas O Gauge tradition.

Unfortunately, there's no such thing.

Lionel started making Christmas cars in 1986 (1985 if you include Lionel employees.)

K-Line wasn't making rolling stock in 1983. They started making Christmas cars in 1987 (1986 if you include a car made for large dealers and employees.)

   It may not be listed in the Catalogue, however one does exist, can't remember which company made it, I thought it was Lionel!  Now you really have me scratching my head.  I remember it was the 1st Christmas Box Car we purchased. We maybe looking for a pre-production Car, and maybe this is the reason why that particular Box Car disappeared and none of the others did.

    You are absolutely correct about the Lionel 70's era Seasons Greetings Box Cars, I have a couple some place, and I do believe the 83 Car was a Seasons Greetings Box Car also.  It did not say Merry Christmas on it.  I am also beginning to think this particular Christmas Box Car was not made by Lionel or K-Line.  I am going to try to look thru some old Christmas pictures and see if I can find a shot of it on one of the old Christmas layouts.  You maybe right Gramps there was a gap where the Lionel Christmas Box Cars did not exist, I thought it was in the late 70's however.

    You were correct it was an 86 K-line TTOC Seasons Greeting, not an 83, the 83 was off my old HO play toy set.  I repurchased the 86 TTOC Seasons Greeting Box Car, it will be shipped to the house for less than $20.00.

Thanks much to everyone who pitched in helping me recover the K-Line TTOC 86 Seasons Greeting Box Car! With out your help, I would have been looking for the wrong year for ever.  I will post some pictures of it when it arrives.

PCR, is this the HO one you were thinking of?

I have all of the Lionel Christmas boxcars and I was getting ready to dig thru my boxes to see if I had an 83 when I saw the last post.

    Yep that is the old 83 HO Seasons Greetings car, I confusing with the 86 TTOC Season Greetings Car.  I really botched this up in my memory pretty good!  Both were white in base color, however!
