Yard in Norfolk Southern Commercial

They filmed the entire commercial at Inman Yard in Atlanta, so yes, there is a yard.

Very well done. NS does a first class job with their commercials and put the train industry always on the "right track", or maybe the "left one", depending on the direction.

Well, I'm not sure I won. I'll buy that the live shots in the commercial were shot at the Inman Yard, but the part I'm talking about is at the end of the video where the NS logo is overlaid on an image of a yard in action. Now that I look at it closer, it looks like a computer-generated yard with 2 turntables and a ship port, obviously not Atlanta.

Inman yard does have 2 turntables. 

Those shots of the locomotives all coming into the scene and then stopping at the exact spot, were filmed in reverse.  They first lined up all of those engines, and then, when the camera was running, they began to back each one out of the picture.  When they ran the sequence backwards; viola!. Perfect cordination!

I'm just really happy to see that the NS has adapted a stance that what they do is very interesting to a lot of people, not just railfans, but everyone seems to enjoy their commercials.  And with their apparent attitude about steam power and the history of their former railroads, they are getting a lot of mileage out of these efforts, with the railfans.  And, ya know what?  Some of these "railfans" are big customers and supporters of the NS system.  Good for business, too.

I was trying to find that particular yard on Google until I saw the ship in the harbor.

I did find one turntable using the satellite view.
