I was shocked by the number of e-mails I got requesting info or asking if I would sell a few, when I posted about these small pink flamingos I ordered. Seven after just one short post. I replied to each one that I did not know the scale yet - just that they were small. I've never had more than three or four e-mails on any post I made in just one day, so I figure many more people may have at least some interest.
They arrived yesterday and I installed some last night. Perfect!
a) The are molded out of soft pink plastic, very flexible, almost rubbery.
b) With their base included they are 1 3/8 inch high (Photo 1). With the base cut off and one leg inserted 1/8th in a small hole in the benchtop, to hold them up, they measure just over a scale four feet high. Real pink flamingos come in sizes from 20" to70" so this fits - and looks good (Photo 2).
c) They come in a bag of 100 which cost $11 on Amazon, with shipping. They can be had for less than $6 elsewhere (no free shipping though).
d) They are made as extra pieces - I think the equivalent of money or points - for a board game called Trailer Park Wars, or something. I don't want to know the details!
They are easy to cut (as in slice the base off) but will not bend and stay - you can bend them but they gradually flex back to their original shape.
I am not going to show more of my trashy trailer park until it is done. Here is the one home in the park where the owner is trying to keep a little bit of paradise and pride of place and hasn't just given up. Still not done . . . . but at least the flamingoes are there. With their good size (scale four feet) and bright color they successfully compete just enough with all the other things around them for the eyes' attention, so I really like their size a lot.
