i have a probably simple question.   i need to resolder the wire from the roller assembly to the eunit.  i took the e unit off to try to see the solder point, but since it's a tight fit, and i'm not the most skilled at soldering, is there a method to taking off the collector shoe assembly to be able to solder directly?    do you just pry it off---won't that break, or run the risk of breaking the tabs that hold it in?    am i on the right direction here to do the reconnecting?  thanks for any advice.  robert

My advice: do not try to remove the collector shoe assembly. They are very difficult to remove and equally difficult to install. Odds are that you will break it or damage the motor's aluminum sides trying to get it out.

Is there anything left of the original wire?
Usually there is something left that can be spliced to a new length of wire and insulated with some heat shrink tubing.
