In my post titled sgauge and tmcc   I posed a number of questions about the functions of the powermaster and powerhouse devices.  I got one response to consult Carl Tuvesent about the use of tmcc in sgauge, but nobody addressed my questions about the PM and brick.  Need some response here.

In your other post your points 1,2, and 3 are correct.



  1.  The only device that will control a Tmcc engine is Command base with Cab1.

(or Legacy system)

  2.  The powermaster can be controlled by the Cab1, but only to raise and lower track power, either incrementally in conventional mode or full on/full off in command mode.

  3. The Powerhouse is a non variable single output transformer which delivers 180 watts at 18 volts to a TPC or Powermaster.

  4.  Assuming he obtains a Command base, how is TMCC connected to a DC powered S gauge layout?



 

TMCC is not compatable with DC.

You will have to add switch to switch from DC or AC/TMCC on the layout.

I am sorry, I looked at the title of your post and passed it by several times. I know what S gauge and "S" gauge are but for the life of me I could not figure out what a sgauge was. I guess I am just getting old. Carl is correct, according to Lionel TMCC will not operate on a DC power system. The problem has to do with the TRIAC's used to control the motor speed and other things. Check on the "S" gauge forum. I believe there was a post there sometime back about connecting the TMCC signal to the track using a capacitor to each rail.
