Has anyone had a problem with Fastrack manual switches and the front 4 wheels of a 4-4-2 locomotive derailing while entering the turn both RH and LH ?

I've not had that exact problem but did have a 4-6-4 that started derailing in a similar fashion on O27 switches. Turned out it needed grease on the pivot points of the pilot truck. greased up and never had a problem since.
i noticed the pilot trucks binding so i just removed them..i now have an 0-4-2 locomotive and have not had any derailing since and no more worries. Thanks for your help.

That's what I call an easy fix...You got'a love it.
Is it lubed to move easily without binding?
I can't recall if it was a 2-4-2 or a 4-4-2 that came with the Scout starter set a few years ago. That engine (mine at least) would bind on most curves and ended up being a small spring that looks like it was meant to recenter the pilot that was a bit too stiff. Since one purpose of the rails is to steer the train, I don't understand the need for the spring and the engine hasn't had any problems since its removal.

If your Fastrak switches are 0-36 you will have problems with a heavy steam engine with a wheel arrangement of 4-4-2.Just MHO.Nick
