A major Kitchen remodeling to expand the O Gauge Model Railway Empire, with lots of photos!

My wife has been working very hard for a few months organizing a major kitchen remodeling to suit her.  The biggest advantage for my model railway setup in the basement is the move of the washer dryer out of the far end of the layout room to the kitchen; no more major dust and moisture issues and people trekking with laundry through the layout room. I had to remove train tracks from the top of the washer every time we did laundry. I do however appreciate her doing such a great job with the kitchen so that I have more room to run and store more trains! Isn’t she a thoughtful wife, could I get any better a major part of the kitchen to store trains.

The new cupboards and counters have recently gone in and she is away for a few days for a rest. The perfect time for me to help out and tune the new kitchen to O Gauge Railroading specs! I thought I would help out and fill the cupboards and fridge save her the work. Enjoy the photos.

First I built a couple of lightweight train boards to run trains on, I can easily move for train shows but for the time being they work well on the counters. One with a water fall and lake feature (the Sink). Note Cranky the crane loading oranges to the fruit bowl. I stocked the fridge with the important drinks a good supply of Coors and Coca Cola. Another cupboard with more Coke. The lower roll out drawers are perfect for storing engines. And I think I got most of the important food groups in the other cupboard love those vintage bill board box cars, perhaps you cannot read the labels bottom to top and left to right; butter, beer, fruit, Baker’s Chocolate, Heinz beans and ketchup, Cherries, Canada Dry Ginger Ale, Apple Cider Vinegar, Maine Potatoes, fruit, Heinz Apple Butter, M & M's, Salad Wafers Salted Crackers, Carnation Milk, Lard, Canned Ham and Bacon, Carnation Milk, Canadian Doughnut company, Mandarin Oranges, Salt, Bakers Chocolate, Sausages, fruit, wheat.

Well not if he puts it all back down in the basement before the wife returns.   Meanwhile, we've had an enjoyable laugh and I'm still envious of those cabinets full of brand name food items.

These are things a model train loving foodie on a budget can only dream of!  (Not to mention I could really use a new kitchen but my plan was the reverse -- hang the old Mad Men-era cabinets in the basement and put trains in them. Silly me, I had it backwards.)
