Great photos and stories everyone! I am sorry I don't have anything to offer, but it sure is nice to be able to come here and read all the wonderful stories and photos to take a little to just relax and forget about the real world! You guys sure know how to put a smile on a guys face!

The construction crew is repairing the buckled brick pavement caused by the weight of the new delivery truck that the company purchased. They will replace the area with a concrete slab.
FOR TODAY: " Way freight works Butler Junction .... as the Pennsy 44 tonner sits idling, Otto Greeley, the headend brakeman, looks down at a pile of ties and remembers his days working on the MOW crew. He counts his lucky stars that his brother -in-law, a road foreman, was able to bring him on as a brakeman. As a MOW crewman Otto worked blistering hot humid summer days doing heavy lifting of ties, rails, debris, and what have you. All of this plus the extreme cold of bitter winters on the MOW plow team sitting up high in the flanger with no heater, clearing out switches in snow and blowing wind, digging out stuck freight cars and locomotives, and whatever else Ol J.D. Seavers, the plow foreman, would throw his way. Oh yeah, as a brakeman Otto still has to deal with the elements in the summer and winter ( fall and spring are his favorite times of the year ) but at least the brakeman job is at worst bearable and at best very pleasant. Otto's glad those MOW days are behind him! "
Well Mack, the engineer, just gave two toots of the horn. With the bell clanging the engine and cabin car creep forward. Time for Otto to get back to work. Got to move those hoppers to track five. ......

Suddenly, a brass band appears along with town folk to welcome the Americans'. The band starts out with "Viva La France'... and the 'French National anthem'... 🎼 The American Soldiers appreciate the welcome'..

FOR TODAY: Over on the team tracks 1953 .... Roger kneels on the deck of this flat car, crowbar in hand, as he pries the wheel chocks loose. Simultaneously, Ned and C.J. remove the chains; all of which is necessary before unloading this new tractor. And so it was ... back in the day. 
I want that tuba band next year, for my birthday. They can play On The Atchison Topeka And The Santa Fe on my patio.

Thanks Curt'.. Reading, and history. Something that is not that popular these days amongst our young people'..🤬 And, when I was in the Army, we were still under WW2 regulations. The regs did not change until 1974. I left in 73. Many have stated the old regs were better'...
Okay, the troops are back in the states'.. First place they visit, gets raided'...😁
Hey Ted, I have done a lot of reading on WW1 and 2. I just finished the book Nazi Gold by Ian Sayer. I wanted to see if the movie The Monuments Men was close to the truth. Curt
It is a busy morning at the old fishing hole. Everyone is hoping they can catch a mess of Blue Gills for supper. Just beware of the old snapping turtle that lives there. He will strip your string of fish hanging in the water and leave you with nothing but fish heads. (True story)

Hey Ted, The Monuments Men is a great movie based on the real story, but the soldiers (Monuments Men) played by Clooney and crew did not find the gold in the mine. Two soldiers giving a couple of the local girls a ride heard the story about the Nazi Gold being stored in the mine from the girls and they reported it to their superiors. The Monuments Men played a very important part in recovering a lot of the stolen art. General Gerring, alone, had his own private train where he stored all of the art he stole. Curt

Missouri Pacific RS11 #4611 has spent some time on the road these last couple of days. She is a favorite of the OM&S. She is from the Lionel 2002 Vol . 2 catalog.

The brass Band is from a company in Great Britain, called "Model -U". They take real life human beings, and scan them. Then the make scale figures from the scan. They must be painted by the modeler. They are very life like figures. Around the same cost as most others on the market... Trump train, Patrick, is working on his set as well... I can't post the web site, Forum rules.. If you search google, Scanned scale figures.. You'll find it'... Thanks for the like'....😁

Thanks for the information. Pat Whitehead, aka trumptrain, is a long-time personal friend of mine and performance colleague. Pat and I have discussed the fact that we both would like figures of performing instrumentalists. I a m really glad that they are finally available.
FOR TODAY: The Saturday morning switch job has conductor Hobart Fleming, and brakeman Wick Lemky working along side B&O SW9 number 594. The weather is hot and humid with the possibility of thunder storms this afternoon. I hope these guys brought their ponchos today. 
Pat, my guess is they were good boy scouts. Be prepared. Great looking scene!

Ted...great scene, incredible figures! Just wondering if the LT mentioned above pulled rank on his guys when it came to talking to the ladies? Do you recall, the acronym, "RHIP, " meaning "rank has it's privilege's...lol

Paul, funny you mention your First Sgt. On active duty, I had a FS that escaped from Germany with his family to England, then made their way to the states. He was quite a character '..
