Patrick,
As always, an interesting story with well proportioned compositions.
May I ask who did the 3/4 ton red and black truck? A beautiful model.

You know Patrick, I was up at 2am west coast time and you already posted your photos and story. That means you posted around 5am your time. You sure are an early riser! Great story, I hope they didn't damage the gears!
The trumptrain express on a roll again with great shots! The worker on the left in photo 2 looks like he had a couple beers! Very Nice!

Ted, 2590 is an EMD GP30. They're pretty rare on class 1 lines but a few still run out here

Thanks Jerry! The 3/4 ton truck has no manufacturer marked underneath. It is 1:43 scale and I bought it from Die Cast Direct at York a few years ago.
Thank you MikeG and Sitka! MikeG - I posted that photo just after midnight. Being a night owl ... I've rarely seen 5.am. and when I have it has been with lots of coffee and toothpicks holding my eyes open ... LOL!
FOR TODAY: Having just filled the sand dome with plenty of grit for the iron Buford, the hostler, climbs aboard. After full servicing the next stop for this H7 Consolidation will be the ready track. Cletus, to the left of the photo, wonders what kind of locomotive will he get to service next ... "perhaps one of those new fangled diesels?"

Thanks lee, I thought it may have been a GP30.. They are similar to the Alco's.. Do you ever run across any Alco's in your travels???
Great photos everyone! Lee one day I am going to have to make a trip down there to get some photos! Maybe when the wife and I get back from vacation in July. We plan on taking a train ride down the coast!
Patrick, I wish I could say that, I am up between 2 & 3am do to the wifes work and Tank the bulldog waking me up. But then again sometimes that is the only time I get to work on the layout!
I hope everyone has a great weekend! Looks like rain here, so maybe some train room time!
Mrs. 'Ski and I took a road trip to VT and NH last weekend and enjoyed a fantastic 2 1/2 hour ride and a 5 course dinner on this beauty:

Only the PA sitting in Portland, and several I saw in Scranton in 2015.
Mike, let me know if you wanna come down to watch trains, I can show you some great spots
Patrick, that's a nice front end loader. With the long engine bay in the rear it looks like a Michigan brand loader.
Here’s a public domain photo, circa 1964, of the Pioneer Zephyr on display at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. It has been moved inside many years ago, but refurbished inside and out recently. A link to a March 2021 article(with photos) in the Chicago Tribune is included. Nicely done I think.

Lee, sounds like there is no sense holding your breath waiting for Mike! 😄

I took this Zephyr pic in NH last weekend.
FOR TODAY: The layover .... caboose tracks at dusk.
Leo stands near his cabin car as Lawford walks over to chat. Lawford is a B&O man as Leo is a Pennsy man. Rival railroads but these guys are great friends! As these cabeese provide over night lodging for their crews, there will be several poker games tonight. Last week Big Benny Smoot, a N&W conductor, darn near lost his shirt. Word has it that once his Mrs. found out, Big Benny found himself sleeping on the front porch glider. ( click on photo for enhanced view )
Pat, excellent story!
