I took these last week. Been wanting to get shots there for years.
This was over two days. I decided not to chase 4501 on the TVRM Summerville excursion just to get shots here instead. I also came very close to having to throw down against a crazy homeless guy walking down the tracks.
I consider the first of these to be worth the time.

BRIANSILERMUSTANG, I enjoy your taste for unusual and rare photos, of angles and shots we might or likely have never seen on our own. I mean, how many times have I seen photos of that name-train, from the front, locomotive view, or from alongside, but from the rear-end = nope, Thanks again for such unique views.

TRUMPTRAIN, I think I can actually hear all the sounds of conversations, vehicles moving and honking, trains and trolleys passing thru, and kids playing along the street in that village of yours. Very, very nice modeling and photo.

UP's early experimental steamturbine-electric locomotives built by Baldwin
If you build it, they will come. At least, I will.
Heck, they could start with scale GG1 running gear on an extended frame. Pretty darn close.
In their non-UP paint; UP never owned these - always belonged to GE. GE tested them on the NYC a bit; lent them to the GN during WWII.

And I thought that railroads tried to avoid "S" curves.

One of my favorite RR shots ever, of the ET&WNC's final freight run, heading up Stateline Hill:
I'd love to have a really good print of this (not a cheesy print off someone's home printer from this internet shot, I mean a print off the actual negative)...

Here's one I took of some Amtrak Chargers being delivered for use on the Cascades service.
Note the second unit is Amtrak 1402. This was the lead unit in the infamous Dupont crash just over a year ago.

When I was a truck driver I used to haul coils of steel like that from Detroit to Milwaukee, AO Smith used them to make water heaters for home or commercial use. I would have them loaded so the opening was 90 degrees from what we see here. That way if I hit the brakes hard it would not roll over the cab and kill me. The coils I hauled were between 45-48,000 pounds. I was very careful on turns as they are top heavy. The coils we are looking at here are anywhere from 40-100,000 pounds. I am surprised they are not tarped to prevent rust.
hauling coils like those on the rail cars are called Shotgun, the other way is called Suicide.
When I worked in the Litho plant we got coils in that were flat on skids.

One of the best things I have done is get the trains out of boxes after 35 years and start building this little empire. It has been a lot of work, but so rewarding to share with my kids. Life is good!

Here’s another unloading from the circus train. And, John Ringling’s Mobile Mansion, pulled behind the train.

I went to chase trains on the main line at Tenino, WA and right away caught a train on the PS&P line (with a GP-9, but going a direction I’d never get ahead of it, so I let it go). After about 20 minutes waiting in Tenino on the main line, I saw a southbound Amtrak, and a Northbound Freight just a couple of minutes later (I missed seeing a ‘running meet’ with two moving trains passing each other, but about a mile). Then, I decided to head south to Bucoda, didn't get but just a couple miles to the next grade crossing and I saw the flashers come on. So, I immediately spun around and paced the train as the road is parallel north of that spot, and caught a running meet of another train going the opposite direction (I was surprised by that as I was focused on the road, holding the camera pointing out the open window, clicking away randomly). I followed the Northbound up to where the road diverges, then turned around and looked at my photos that I had taken while pacing. Then, I headed south again with the original intent of catching something south of there, and the exact same thing happened again. I hit that grade crossing, saw the flashers come on, and I spun around and paced another Northbound through the exact same spot, less than 15 minutes after the first one. They backed up a train in each block at this point, it seemed. So, I turned back around, and the lights were green Northbound yet again and trains kept coming after I ran out of light. As I was leaving I caught another one heading south, just before the light was gone. More than 7 trains in less than two hours.
