thank you Frank.  I can't wait to get to work on the scenery, think that is going

to be the fun part....I will definitely be using photos of your layout for inspiration and ideas.

I'm stunned you would say that, Brian. What a kind and gracious thing to say to a fellow hobbyist. Thank you, most sincerely. I am sure we are all enjoying the wait to see the progression, but take your time; those super-creative, super-rewarding moments are short-lived, after all.

Lee, you didn't happen to drop anything on the tracks taken pictures that day.....

Funny you should mention that. My wife and I were actually sitting in another Cascades train in Tacoma, for several hours after this happened. We rode the trains as they're going to stop running along the Puget Sound and this was the day we chose. After 3 hours sitting in Tacoma in our train, we called a friend who came to pick us up and drove us home.

P51, I really like the area with the turn table. Couple of questions? How large is the turntable and approximate size of area your turntable sits on. I am in the process of designing a new layout and would like to add one. I have a 4 by 4ft  area of dead space to play with.  Thanks again,  your layout looks great. Nick T.

Luv it, Mayor Magoo, plenty to look at, with the eye darting in every direction, and back again. Very nice!

LOL!  Thanks for the kind words Frank, but I was looking at the picture myself and noticed something I hadn't until now.  I put tunnel liners in both portals, you can see the one on right looks dark but then I saw in the picture how in the left tunnel I didn't extend the liner far enough - you can see the wall behind it.

Beautiful work, Gulliver... re... I mean Erik. One quibble - I don't think those stairs are up to code!!!

Those steps are called 'the good steps' in many places around here!!!

Well, Dave, if thems the "good steps", the bad steps must be a real trip

Brian,

I "liked" this photo, but I wish I could "like" it several more times.  I think this is a great shot.  I wish I could have witnessed the action in person.    This is an awesome photograph as it tells a story and requires you to fill in some blanks as to what was happening before and after the shot was memorialized in time.

Where was this taken?  Is this a spur?  It looks like the CN has several cars behind it to make me think this is a mainline, but the track does not look like mainline trackage.

Was the CSX loco crossing over to the line in front of the CN or was it traveling the other direction and getting out of the way of the CN.

Again, great photo.

Thanks

So honored to be a part of this dialogue.

Trumptrain, The picture above, the B&O lighted railroad bridge is beautiful. I also liked your comments, you work a lot of hours.....Thank You. I pre-sume your a musician, probably play the trumpet, and when I was in high school, back in the early 60’s, I played 3Rd Horn. I should have auditioned for Lawrence Welk. A little humor. Either way, although there are many Wonderful Layouts, they come from individuals of all ages, and many different walks in Life. This amazing Hobby, brings us all together. Model Railroading, or love of trains....

Started ballasting my yard.  I have the two classification tracks, arrival track, and departure tracks done.  I painted and weathered the Lionel yard lights and the coaling tower.  I took out 13 Atlas switch machines and put Caboose Industry ground throws on the turnouts I could reach.  The 3 I can't are controlled by SC-2.  I also weathered my first car; the CNW box car in the photos.  It is cool to actually start doing some detailing.  I still have some track to put down and wiring to do, but I'm totally sick of doing that for now.

Even the interior support beams are scuffed and soiled. I'm looking and looking and have decided...you ARE the master!!!!!!!!!! Wow. And another WOWeee!

When we have to squint to discern if it isn't real life, then we are in the presence of far too much coolness!

To say the least, you da man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
