I'm kind of new to the tinplate trains area, but am slowly getting into these "artistic" trains.
I must ask, looking at MTH's Lionel Corporation Tinplate products now available, do all the traditional versions, primarily the O gauge engines, include the mechanical air whistles of their predecessors? As much as I like the ProtoSound 2/3 equipped versions, I want to have most of my tinplate trains to be almost exactly like the originals, but of course at a more decent price.

Never fear, the new versions do have an air whistle in the Tenders for the Conventional Engines & the Motors & E-Units are pretty much carbon copies of the originals also. Take care & have fun.

Welcome to the enjoyable side of "toy" trains. Keith is right on the money. I've gone as far as installing the air whistles in my prewar pieces, both Std & O-Gauge. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Thomas the great thing about the Repro Tin Plate is that it also comes in P2/P3
and runs great with remote control, my 263E is some kind of fantastic, has all the whistles and bells and the sounds are great also. I have both the original Lionel
and the MTH/Lionel repro P2.
