Are the switch relays inside the AIU momentary or just switches?
All try to make this short although there's probably more info needed. I just got some Atlas 2 rail switch motors and I connected them. It's to 2 switches on a crossover to my mainlines so they both throw together. They work. So I got the idea that the AIU could also control them while connected to their momentary switch. I ran my power to the AIU first and tried to jump to the controller, realizing that it wouldn't work unless the controller was depressed while the AIU also passed the power.
So then I jumpered the power wire to the AIU and the Atlas controller. I sent the other wire to the controller. I jumpered the 2 outputs of the AIU to the 2 screws out on the Atlas controller. I'm thinking that either can send power to the machine that way. I thought it worked for a second and as I played with the direction throws on the AIU I heard just one Atlas machine get stuck on? As soon as I pulled the AIU out of the wiring the machines are fine. So I believe the AIU's Switch #1 got stuck on to one direction? I can't figure out why only one machine stuck on so I'm typing this trying to help me solve my own riddle. Sometimes when I type these posts I answer my own question.
I must have something crossed so that only one machine is stuck on? If the AIU got stuck I would think both motors would be buzzing.
Maybe I'll wait until the morning for a fresh look. Atlas shows 3 tiny screws to connect the machine. They only supply 2 at the most and in one case, only one screw. To make things more fun I can't find the little knob to throw the switch manually. I don't know if it was missing or went flying when I wrestled with the packaging trying not to break the tiny plastic mounts? Urrggg.
