I have scale-sized O gauge models of just about all the steam engines that the PRR operated in the late 1940s.  However, I run command control and a few of these engines are conventional transformer control only.  One of these engines is my 3rd Rail PRR N1.  This neat engine was only made by 3rd Rail, and only had one production run.   Because this is such a great engine, I wanted to upgrade it with all the bells and whistles possible  So I called Alex Malliae and asked him to do it.

Alex has done fantastic work on previous engines for me, and this time is his best work yet  He installed the following:

-ERR with large steam sound
-Fan driven smoke unit with Super Chuffer board
-LED marker and cab lights
-LED front and rear headlights
-Rear electro coupler

Here is a video of the completed engine.

THANKS ALEX!

Ron,

Alex has upgraded several of my PRR engines including Lionel J1 Texas, Lionel M1a Mountain, Y3 as well as my only non Pennsy steamer a Lionel Lacawanna Mogul. All are TMCC upgraded to 4 chuffs per revolution as well as upgraded smoke. The M1a has the super chuffer board. All look and sound great he is the man for upgrades.

I have been reading old issues of The Keystone about the N1s. They were amazing as is your N1. Enjoy running it, it looks and sounds great and the smoke is top notch.

Maybe if we keep giving him great PRR engines to work on we can get him away from those NYC steamers.
