Anyone having issues with the MTH RK CP Holiday Engine???

Yeah, you should get a DCS setup or DCS explorer do you can run it. It probably needs a factory reset which you can only do with a DCS system or DCS Explorer. Well I think you can reset them with the DCS explorer and the app but I’m not sure since I don’t have one 

Hmmm, just fired it up and all the sounds were back. Looks like I keep and eye on this one.

Same thing happened to my premier Blue Comet a few days ago. Did a factory/feature (can't remember which one it is) reset in conventional with one of the Z transformers. (1 horn, 5 bells). Sound worked again.

Yep. Mine is DOA as well. It started up went about an inch and died. I'm using DCS Explorer and a Z-750. It doesn't even find it now. Track and connections are all good. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

I'm not liking these reports I have a CP Holiday engine coming!

I found with the one I have that you have to wait quite a while when you power the engine up for it to start. The lights on the cars come on immediately, and then the engine remains dark and quiet - then lights up and you can hear the sound of the engine start and come up to power.  (initially we thought that once the box cars lit up the engine should be ready to go)  After that it runs beautifully.  To get the "announcement" sounds - just quickly push the  bell button once and the whistle button twice while it is running.  When you stop the train next time,  the announcements will play. There are several announcements so just power down and back up for the next one to play. When the last is played it "thanks the people" and the train moves out on its own at the completion. I am running in conventional.  It " confused" us at first and I thought something was wrong when the engine was "dark" for so long on start up.  I agree sure don't like the reports of problems. We are very careful not to touch the tiny lights when moving.  I don't pretend to say this is the problem you had, but for others that are awaiting these sets this may help.

My CP cars were delivered last November-ish and have been fine, until this past week. The engine was delivered in February and has run great ever since. No issues whatsoever. The other day, one of the cars appears to have had a board blow. I've also had a bit of issues with one of the LED lit houses with some lights going on/off. Appears to be a connection problem that my LHS has attempted to fix multiple times. 

I bought my engine and cars last year and both to date have run well with no problems. Also the flat cars with trees have been no problems. 

Btw I use dcs with wifi and all powered by a PH180 brick.

I'm still waiting for this years cars which look like they may not make it for the holiday. Why MTH cannot get their holiday items out before Christmas especially just cars with LEDs is beyond me.
