Sorry if I'm late to the party or if it's been discussed.
But, since recently acquiring the MTH Dreyfuss premier proto 2 it's been a challenge finding passenger cars.
So, with the announcement of altas premier NYC 1938 Streamlined Passenger Cars,am I to assume these can be a close match for this engine? They look to be the lighter gray that will closely match the engine? If so,what great news! I can definitely patiently wait for them to be released.

Just a guess but I think the Atlas cars will be a close match to the ones MTH did around 2016 and 2007. The did some cars around 2003 that are lighter. As for matching your engine, its anyone’s guess.

Donnie, the Dreyfuss you now own is pretty famous for being way too light compared to what it’s supposed to be!….MTH corrected the color in subsequent later runs as Pete mentioned above. The latest releases from both MTH & Atlas will be a much more correct darker shade of gray. The later releases will nowhere even come close to matching your engine. Sadly, there’s really no cars that match your engine even relatively close. It’s the odd man out ……I’ve repainted several 5V engines to better suit the client’s request. …….sorry, not trying to bust your bubble,…..

Pat,you're not busting my bubble at all. I think the only thing that will match will be the original MTH cars from 1998.
Or ,maybe I should just commission her to freight duty...

Donnie, MTH did a set around 2000 that might be your best bet. They have interiors but no figures. Nice solid cars that you can add figures to. Two car set is 20-6654. They show up on the auction sites frequently.
