I have two TPCs which provide power to the tracks thru six BPCs.  While doing some test runs , I had an engine derail and blow

a fuse on my fuse block. After fixing the problem and replacing the fuse, I continued with my testing. One of my BPCs controls blocks 13/14/15/16.

When I got to block 13, I found no power.  I tried to program ACC 13 to TPC1; I couldn't get power.  I programed block 13 to

TPC2 (track2) it worked fine.  BPC will not switch control of block 13 to track 1.  I have not tried reprogramming the BPC since the other three relay sets work fine.

I think that I have a BPC someplace that I replaced years ago.  I seem to remember hearing that Dale Manquin 0r someone else who posts on this board repairs  IC controls units.  If anyone has any fixes I might try before shipping the BPC off for repairs or junking it, I would be most appreciative.

Hi Trainman

I put the TVS at the transformer posts, then I put TVS at each track connection - Lockon or QC for GG track. Should there be a TVS at each track output of the BPC and or on each input from the TPC to the BPC as well to protect the BPCs?

Does this hold true for the other controllers as well - ASC, OTC, AVC?

I would recommend putting a TVS on each input and output on all of these devices especially if they are the versions produced in China. Lou Kovatch, former owner of IC Controls and the designer of these products, told me explicitly that when they began producing these products overseas that some of the components barely met the MILSPEC.
