Button Box

It sort of resembled the DCS Commander right? Why though would you buy that button box instead of a regular TMCC Set(not you I meant the people it was supposed to appeal to)? The Button box requires the TMCC Base still right?

Well, I guess the thought was that it would appeal to the die hard fans of conventional control. It was similar in design to the MTH version. It had a self contained command base built into it so there was no need for anything else to operate command equipped engines.

 

As I recall one of the things that the beta testers found out was that it was not always compatible with all transformers or engines.

 

In the end it was just too costly to produce given the fact that at the time you could purchase the full TMCC CAB1 system for under $100.

Yep I got my TMCC set for retail price, which is $169? I believe that was retail. But anyhow it is extremely easy to use! Just pick it up punch in the ENG. number and boom it is so simple a 3 year old could use it! That button box doesn't really seem appealing anyway! TMCC was invented for I believe the current CEO of Lionel's handicapped son. So it was meant to be mobile!

TMCC was created by Neil Young and his Liontech company. He designed it so that his son who has cerebral palsy could operate the trains. He also made use of the "Big Red Button" to reproduce commands sent from the CAB1.
