Buy anything cool lately?

It's a beauty, Ralph!  I prefer Penn Central written out like that soooo much better than the PC and lime green.   I like RS1 and RS3, so I thought I would order a Western Maryland RSD5.  It should be here soon!!  I have an RS1 in PS2.

Is this a good system for 2 Rail O Scale? If not, what do you suggest?

Luvin, the MRC Prodigy system is s great system for running trains. I have 2 of them and they are incredibly easy to use and quite possibly the fastest system to get up and running if any I have seen. I have recommended them to a lot of people and they are impressed with the simplicity and happy with the system

If the PC unit came from the Pennsy, The Pennsylvania RR always ran long hood forward for safety.

Yup..just got in the Brennan kit for the Frank Ellison Oblong Box Co.   I remember seeing this structure portrayed in ancient MR's when l was a kid. The box is emblazoned with a large photo of the structure, so without opening it, l am envisioning assorted kitbashes....as a flourmill attached to a grain elevator, as a road-to-rail transfer warehouse, with a long truck dock opposite the rail side,  as a post office RPO unloading facility ....the list goes on ..

I'm so excited. I was driving and decided to stop at a local hobby shop. The hobby shop is not too far from where I live but I rarely stop there because the gentleman doesn't really carry a whole lot of O Scale equipment. I guess the last time I was there I wasn't working on scenery, which he does have a fair amount. Needless to say, this will be my second home for scenery.

Well, as I was looking around at the small selection of O Scale items I looked down and saw 4 boxes of Weaver telephone poles, brand new. I almost jumped up and down like a small boy but decided to contain myself. I think the owner saw the excitement in my face and even when I asked what he could do on the price of the poles he wasn't buying it. That's ok because they were already priced generously. 

I have been looking around for these well crafted items since I started working on scenery and of course because Weaver is no longer, they have been hard to locate. I was bidding on them on the bay but  my strategy was off and the other guy must've wanted them just as bad as I did took the lot of them. I even at one point put a thread up, on here, looking for some. No offers.

But anyways, I GOT SOME NOW!

I can't answer that as I run On30 and have never run 2 rail O gauge, sorry...

Hi Dave, I used the same system back when I had 2 rail, I loved it, as Matt has said its so easy to learn! Here is a little video of my old 2 rail before cancer! The MRC worked great! That's a MTH Es44AC.

I was lucky to win at Ebay auction a Prewar 156 with 2 610's and 612. I run this set on an elevated track.  I have MTH Amtrak AEM 7 (P3)  and B+M GP 38- 2 (P3) for my 3 Rail scale layout below. So I run a mix. Anyone else have both traditional and scale ?

Yes; prewar, traditional and scale.

Nice Father's Day gift Gary. I had a nice Father's Day weekend spending time with my daughter and son in Michigan  and the four grand kids. So when I got home my Weaver trucks had arrived. I am lucky finding reasonably priced ones on the bay from time to time. Pic...........Paul

Got 2 new MTH Railking covered hoppers that will eventually play on my little retirement layout with a Korber grain elevator as the centerpiece. The elevator is 90% complete (and sitting on the dining room table at my son's house), but wife still hasn't figured out where my little layout should be in the house. Right now every few weeks or so I pull out most of the things I've acquired for the new layout and set up a temporary loop (Picture 3) just to play a bit.

Really like MTH and MTH Railking quality .  Your new hoppers look super !!

You should make a conscious effort to enjoy that phase - it's not only part of the journey, but it's a lot easier to pick things up and put them away now, than when you have everything bolted, glued or nailed down!!! Enjoy! Looks like fun to me!

Mr Brown dropped off my Scale Coat paints. Main colors I needed were aged concrete and Aluminum but decided to get a few railroad colors for touch up work. Pic.....................Paul

Earlier in the week, my Atlas GSC Trainman dash-8 40CW GSC in UP arrived.  I took it out of the box and this is a stunning engine.  It is slightly different than the other UP engines Atlas is selling making it an instant collectors item (LOL).  I am very very much looking forward to running it.

Hit the hobby shops in Portland Oregon today, even went down to look at 4449 and SP&S 700 at their engine house as well.

At the various shops, found these magazines. Even found what appears to be a GE builders plate off a mining locomotive!

Tomlinson Run Railroad

 This brochure was in a Fundimensions set I  bought from 1983.  I love old paper its like time travel.

Past couple of weeks I purchased some postwar steams. The first is a 2056 w/tender that I'm trying my hand at repainting, waiting for the 2056 rubber stamp to get here. The other is a 2055 w/tender. The last pix is a set w/2056 engine and tender I just bought last week. It's pretty much a complete 1479WS set from 1952 minus the boxes.

I missed out on this unfortunately, but after much searching, I finally found it. Of course Ebay had the Empire State Express Set, and had the Diner car, but I looked elsewhere for the two car add on. Gryzbowski's Train Store had exactly that. The ESE and the two car add on were nicely priced, the Diner car I had to pay a little bit more than I thought I should, but that is okay. Now I can have this run next to the Century Club version since they are different number. 

Only thing now is, what next to buy. I have a long list from the 2017, & 2018 Lionel catalog, but there is always room for something else out there. Perhaps I will wait and see what is at York this October. I have my vacation put in for it, I just have to make hotel reservations, and register as yet.

Picked this up last weekend. MTY Premier Class A and Aux Tender. Also added a little something to help run my trains on the new layout.

I recently purchased a used set of B&O F3’s, Lionel 5.0 Version, Made in 2003/2004 and it contained a Powered A, Powered B, dummy A.  All were in pitiful condition, as they were really ran to death. Do to friends, 2 of the three are running flawlessly, the Powered A is being completely re-built. I have always loved the B&O paint scheme.  

I saw this a few weeks back at the local news stand, figured since it was still there, I'd better get it. I'll have to get some reading in sometime this weekend, if I have time.

Our pre-ordered CSX ES44DC arrived at Legacy Station!  We had a bit of a whoopsie - the wife didn't realize she had pre-ordered the 2-rail scale wheel version (it was a Christmas gift/surprise so she took a guess at which one to get).  Brian at Legacy Station was extremely gracious, and did an in-place swap for the 3-rail hi-rail version, for which we are very grateful! If anyone is after a scale wheeled ES44, Legacy station has one!

The addition of the CSX ES44DC is pretty meaningful to us since we would often see them at CSX's Hulsey Yard, which was right by our old apartment here in Atlanta - now we can replicate what we used to see roll past our apartment regularly!
