Bought this Prewar Lionel signal and restored it.
Bought it a while ago but it had to be exchanged due to a damaged truck and broken coupler.
So it's still cool, just a "Johnny Come Lately" now.
I did the recommended mods to the pick up rollers and wires.

Great finds everyone, I wish I had some new train cars to share with you all, but I am not that lucky. But the wife and I went window shopping in town yeaterday and I picked these up for the layout. Before any of you say but they are just banks, I seen on here where folks have filled the slots in and repainted the top and they look great!
I was thinking hard about getting this one, but it was a little high for me. But I am still thinking about it! LOL
Its just I am not a B&O guy, but I do like the truck!

I like the Winn-Dixie Mike. The slots can be done. It's an easy patch and paint job.
The B&O looks good too. A 3,000 mile trip to go window shopping might be in order......

Who cares about the slots, most of us rather watch from the side anyway. Great finds, and if you can figure out a way to rationalize the third one, you won't regret it
I have an Allied Van Lines by ERTL, slot and all, but who cares, the paint and graphics are perfect. I think it goes great with postwar boxcars because the scale is a better fit. Good find, I didn't realize other makes were out there.
Even in the real world who sees the top anyway. good Sheu as Mr.s Sullivan would say
Thanks guys , Chuck there were others there also, I just didn't have the time to search them all!
Haven’t bought anything yet out of this bunch of stuff that was donated to the club. We are going to take the HO engines to a club to run them and decide which ones would be best for the HO part of our layout. We’ll keep two or three and leave the rest for that club along with some rolling stock, etc. Here’s where it gets interesting there’s a AF steam set in a set box that’s falling apart; it does have the label. I brought it home to check it out. I wondering if I could lay the track on my tinplate layout between the O Ga and the Kusan track. I promised myself that I will not reopen the box till I clear some other projects.

Bob, would you cover it or fill it in?

They could be left alone. I have a K-line tank car that is a bank and the slot doesn't bother me. If Mike wanted to fill them in, a little body filler sanded smooth and a repaint would work.
As others have said they can be left alone.
Got any pix of that AF set? Sounds interesting.

I’ll take some and post later.

I have a few trailers like this. What I decided to do is get/use some heavy electrical friction tape to cover the tops going from side to side and seal them. So it looks like the tops were repaired with tar paper. And/od paint the applied tape to look like a canvas to repair.

As promised. The box is severely deteriorated.
The set appears to be L/N
The inspectors ticket is dated August 1950. The pieces of Daily News in the box were dated January 2, 1952.
There’s a small set transformer, the cord is dried up and it appears to be missing lights.

This just arrived Saturday - a set of Lionel 13" passenger cars to go with my Lionchief Plus B&O Mikado. It seems that the Mikado wasn't really a passenger engine, but I wanted to have the option. And I never before considered cars with passenger silhouettes until someone posted photos of their cars here and that won me over. These were still in the box, apparently never run.

Hi John, Those are great looking! I know we got use to detailed interiors but in reality at night if we saw a passenger consist go by for the most part we would not be seeing detail interiors but mostly just silhouettes.
I kind of would like to go back to "silhouettes" that look this good.

I make a point of strenuously avoiding PS2 5v items. I have had several catastrophic failures. Having said that, it’s a man’s prerogative to change his mind. I was able to get a “whisper away from mint” MTH Railking Erie-Lackawanna RS3, a sentimental favorite, which has not been released in PS3, with 1.1 scale miles, and 27 minutes on the clock. I’m hoping for a long term relationship! Opted for a rechargeable 9v battery instead of BCR.

That's a beautiful engine in a beautiful paint scheme. I hope it gives you years of trouble-free service.
