Lionel’s Description of this Outfit…6-21786

The Santa Fe Warbonnet F3 is perhaps the most recognizable and universally loved diesel that Lionel has ever produced. From its first production run in 1948, to the introduction of its companion aluminum Speedliner cars in 1952, and to this very day, the Santa Fe F3 has captured the hearts and minds of most hobbyists.

As the year 2000 draws to its close, and so with it the first 100 years of Lionel history, we thought it fitting to offer a Santa Fe Warbonnet passenger set unlike any ever produced. From the number of cars and features never before offered, this set is sure to go down as one of the greatest in Lionel history.

This was indeed a terrific set with the combined features of 'old' Lionel and the more up-to-date ones listed above. Interesting ad copy however after pointing out that the PullMor motors will 'power you into the next 100 years'. These were probably the last F3s that Lionel planned to use the venerable old PullMors in as everything was going to can motors.

I'm reminded of a Lincoln commercial I saw back in 1997 when GM had first downsized all of their large sedans. My in-laws had a 1976 Fleetwood D'Elegance Caddy that must have been almost 20' in length but the new 1997 model was considerably shorter. GM had definitely gotten the jump on Ford in trimming the huge cars of the day but this fella on TV was asserting that he "was not going to compromise his investment with a downsized car" while showing the current 20' Lincoln Town Car.  Truth is, Lincoln was working hard on getting their own smaller Lincoln to market in just a few months!

Hello guys and gals...............

How about showing Santa Fe steam powered heavyweights trains for a change? The trains like the California Limited started their passenger car service back in Nov 1892 to June 1954.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Limited.  I am making a train using the 5011 and MTH heavyweights as a starting point.

Where did you find this? It is an uncataloged engine and I couldn't find it anywhere.

Lionmaster I bought the Santa Fe steamer MTH 20-3144-1 IN DEC 07. iT WAS AN UNCATITEM BUT OTHER SIMILAR ENGINES LIKE 20-3135-1 WAS SHOWN IN THE 2004 VOL2 CAT. Mth web site did not show any dealer listing them. These are PS-2. They may have made this engine since under a new model number and maybe with PS3.
