I finally finished the saga of the ps1 to PS3 upgrade. It is a F3 ABA El Capitan. I downloaded a Premier file of a similar set. The “fast blinking” mars light leaves something to be desired. If I download the recent E-8 Super Chief, will the mars lighting characteristics change? The sound is bodyless, but I haven’t double checked speaker polarity. I have extra speakers.

Did you load a PS/3 chain file? Find a PS/3 F3 and use one of those sound files and chain files.

Yes I did. No problem downloading both files. I am just asking if the sound and chain files can change characteristics of Mars light appearance. I think it blinks as opposed to a pulsation. Do the downloaded files have any effect on mars light? I can find out by downloading a different set of files, but thought I would save time by asking here. Not a problem, just a preference.
Yes, they certainly can change the function of the lights, and a host of other operational characteristics as well. Your mission, should you decided to accept it, is to find an F3 that has the operation you desire, and try those files.
Yea and Ney and it is more complicated. The Flash Code Hardware file runs most of this, but it does look at the SF for guidance also. You have a MARS function but you don't like how it functions, and I Am not sure that it varies by SF. I think the code may be generic for all engines with MARS light.
But the only way to find out for sure is to try a different load, but I do not think just sound file change would do it. SF would only determine if the feature is turned on or not available for PS-3 Sound Files. G
