I have been studying sidewalks (Who does that? 
) for the purposes of coloring them properly. Turns out that sidewalks and concrete come in many, many different colors. But you probably knew that. Actually, I already knew that from some previous work on concrete bridge piers. Anyway, as a reference and guide, here are some photos of sidewalks around the area. I got them on my daily 3-mile walk.

Nice photos and good reference material. When you think about the different colors of mix used in concrete, the age differences, and natural weathering, the variations are quite numerous as your photos show. It’s also why so many different people have employed so many different techniques so effectively on their layouts. When I researched this for a recent sidewalk project on my layout, I was amazed at all the different suggestions and how superb each looked. However, in the end, I kind of went my own way with a combination of different dark under coats and a lighter grey primer overcoat with additional weathering when everything dried.
