I have a lighted and smoking K-line bay window caboose #K612-2112 That I'm installing Kadees on, while I have it apart
is there something I should be adding to the wires to help it work better with DCS. Is it called a choke?

Yes, it's called an RF Choke, however, the K-Line cabooses don't need it. As a general rule, they don't interfere with the DCS signal. The cabooses that often do are from Atlas O.
If you're ever in doubt, the chokes are cheap. 
While it is apart you might want to install a 3A diode in series with the smoke unit. K-line caboose smoke units sometimes melt the roof when run on the higher voltage of DCS. After seeing some melted ones at train shows, I did this to mine. It smokes just fine after the change. Here is a nice blog article about it.

Good point Bob, some of them have a conventional/command switch to accommodate higher track voltages.
