MTH's yellowstone with a grey boiler.

They did a nice job with detail and the paint.

Unlike some of my earlier engines, no tether between the engine and tender as the wires are built into the draw bar.

A lot of the detail is added to the metal cast body and painted black to contrast with the grey boiler.  Those details that were cast into the boiler were not painted black.

The walk boards have a pattern but aren't 'see through', as on 3rd rail.

DM&IR yellowstone (cont)

Tender.

The extended assembly that encloses to the engines closed cab is left off.

Chains to the tender truck is a nice touch: keeps the trucks attached to the tender on derailments.

A nice accident!

It appears that the smoke unit isn't flush with the smoke stack so some smoke comes out the bottom of the boiler.  Being an articulated, there were 3 large steam pipes that had to rotate in order to allow the front engine to rotate, resulting in those pipes had a tendency to leak.  The excess steam was more noticeable on cold days.
