Hello,  Does anyone maybe have a schematic for the (2) Plugs that go into the smoke unit on the Lionel 6-82806 Union Pacific F-E-F Steam Locomotive.?  I removed the Smoke Unit to replace the Wick as the Locomotive wasn't producing much smoke (the Wick was charred and brittle from a previous Owner not adding fluid I guess)....Anyway, for ease of working on the Smoke Unit, I removed the (2) Plugs that provide power, control etc.  to the smoke unit. One plug is white, the other plug is red. I did make a quick drawing of the plugs before I removed them...but now as I look at my sketch, I didn't think to mark top and bottom-left and right on it, so, it's of no use to me. The only "marking"  I see on the smoke unit Board is a J7 near one of the (2) plug receptacles (see attached photo).  Would anyone have a schematic showing which Plug goes in the J7 receptacle..?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thank you

The main stack smoke side goes to J7, the whistle smoke goes to J6.  In addition, if you get them wrong, it won't break anything, the whistle will chuff and the stack will whistle.

Next time you do a similar job, just mark the plugs with colored Sharpie markers, makes it easy to plug them into the right holes when you're done.

Hey John,  "Thank You"  for the quick response, (Not quite as complicated as the "Big Boy" we worked on over the summer, lol)....But I'm still not sure which plug goes "where" on the Smoke Unit Board.  The only identifying number on the smoke unit board itself is a J2 near one of the receptacles which does not correspond with either the J6 or J7 on the main Board where these Plugs originate from. I realize it's just a matter of "switching them" if I get it wrong but I'm trying to eliminate handling these plugs etc. as much as possible to prevent damaging something.  I need that same schematic you sent....but showing the Smoke unit Board with the correct orientation of the (2) Plugs.  Thank You...

Ok John....On the Main Board, the "White" Plug is plugged into J-7 and the Red Plug is in J-6.  On the Back of the Smoke Unit Board itself,  the two plug receptacles are labeled Smoke 1 and Smoke 2. Assuming Smoke 1 is the stack smoke, it would get the White plug coming from J-7 and smoke 2 would be whistle smoke and get the Red Plug.  I'll try that. Hopefully that will be correct.  Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Hi John,  Can't really use that idea on this Unit....The Smoke Unit Heating Elements; Fans etc. are side by side; not front to back, so neither is actually "closer to the Stack; or whistle"...They are parallel to both.

You're really missing my point!  The dual smoke is always side by side.  However, it exhausts into a funnel, and the funnel directs the smoke to the appropriate place.  You have to look at the route the smoke takes from the smoke unit.  I have a couple of examples from Legacy upgrades that I'm going to do.

Referring the the GS-4 smoke unit below, it's fairly obvious that the left side goes to the main stack and the right side goes to the whistle just by looking at the smoke funnel.

Similarly, this is the smoke unit and manifold for the Class A that I'll be upgrading to Legacy.  It's fairly obvious from inspection that the whistle smoke is going to come from the left hand side, and the main stack smoke will come from the right hand side.

I'm not understanding why this can't be applied to your situation, the smoke from the smoke unit has to get to the stack and whistle, and the path isn't that complicated!

It's all good John....The white plug which you originally said comes from J 7  goes to Smoke 1 on the smoke unit board and is the stack smoke;  The Red Plug from J 6 goes to smoke 2 on the smoke unit board and is the whistle smoke. I got it back together and it works much better smoke wise but I must have a small leak where the unit sits into the shell as I'm getting some smoke bleeding out under the shell......but then again watching videos of actual real 1 to 1 Steam Locomotives they have steam coming from all over the Boiler so I might just leave it this way.   Thank again for all your help....
