E*** Intermodal Item

Looks like custom build and custom paint made from 5 MTH single cars. Pretty neat. Don't expect it to go for less than $350, maybe closer to $500.

Agreed. The work looks pretty good from the photos.

I actually built those cars and painted the containers as well, a few years ago- looks interesting to see these for sale.

Jeff also made some just like this for me.  It's fascinating to see what these will go for because they are so unique.  Ebay is completely unpredictable for items like this.

Right off the bat after connectiong to the link I had a feeling it was Jeff's handywork. I have to see where this goes for sure!

In looking at the seller's other listings, is this an estate sale or did someone decide to get out of the hobby and have someone sell it?  Reading the descriptions, it doesn't appear that the seller was the original owner of these items.  I was interested in the 5 car Gunderson Atlas cars, but the AB cars are one item and the CDE cars are another item.  I asked if these could be combined but I don't think that is going to happen.  Don't fill like bidding unless I can be assured of getting both.  As it stands, one could get the one and not the other.

Getting up there, over $400

I put that in my watch list. I'd love to own it, but that price has gone beyond what I can justify. I am watching a bunch of other items from that seller that haven't gone crazy yet.

There are a couple or items I am following, too.  Most of them have gotten to the point where it better to buy them from a store if I really want them.  I originally wanted the Atlas Gunderson cars but the price for the AB set is over twice the MSRP. 

Yeah Martin, that was pretty much the formula I used to guess at a selling price. It looks like there are just a couple of guys who are very serious about owning this piece. It has turned into a real auction. There is still plenty of time left. The question is how much will is there to send it even higher.

So much for my guess on that double stack set. It is now well north of what I expected it to go for, and there's still 2 days left. The current high bidder strikes me as a bit suspect though.

On a happier note, I just purchased my first structure in more than 20 years. A kit no less. I won the Pecos River engine maintenance facility. I have just the spot on the layout for it too.

Good buy.

I was looking at a few items but they are now more that I wanted to pay.  I was hoping to get a good bargain.  The lines he had are not the lines that I buy.  I was looking at the MTH scale engines but they got to be too much.

I wonder what Jeff sells his 5 car stacks for.  The ebay price seems to be in the ball park if buying them from him.

What surprised me was the price on the Atlas A-B Gunderson cars.  $330   That is over 2x the MSRP.  I guess since there is not much of these on the markets, people are willing to pay a super premium just to get it.

These cars are very cool indeed.  I have only made a few sets outside of my own fleet. However if anyone is interested in some of these please contact me offline (email in profile) and we can discuss.  I really like these cars and they add a huge dimension to an intermodal train for sure.  

what are we looking at for a set of these.

Makes my K-Line 5 car skeleton set I got for $20 look pretty good!!!!

If someone is willing to pay $700 for that set....good for them!!!
