I figured it was time to get around and start doing all the maintenance and upgrades to my older locomotives I've been thinking of doing.  So an engine cradle would be a good thing to start with.  With my wife into crafty stuff, I figured I had enough materials around the house to make one.  How many of you have made one, or bought one?  What "features" should I include, or you wish yours had?

I made mine out of a high density foam packing material. Came from some electronics I bought a couple years ago. I hot glued it to a piece of Masonite board to add some strength to it. Then glued the sides on.

Later on I did the cut outs on the sides because many diesels that had sun shades and other detail, would be smashed and therefore could be damaged by the side foam. My cradle is 18 inches long.

The thicker, density of the foam holds up well and does a great job of protecting my engines and cars.
