My std gauge engines are stopping or hesitating on the new lionel/mth switches. I have followed Barry's book to the letter with regard to the installation of the DCS system and have consistent signal strength (8 or 9) on both loops.  There is a powered jumper to the switches. The switches work with the handheld etc. My 400e engine hesitates and goes thru and my #7 usually stops and shuts down but at faster speeds sometimes makes it thru but sound often drops out. All other things seem to work on the loop as well as the other loop

Mike,

It's not a DCS problem. Rather, it's one of two things:

  • The pickup rollers of the engines are all landing on center rail dead spots on the switch tracks at the same time. The solution is to traverse the switches faster or replace single pickup rollers with dual ones, if that's physically possible
  • The non-traction tired wheels of the engine are all  landing on insulated outside rails at the same time. Again, either traverse the switch faster or find a way to un-insulate an insulated outside rail.
