On my inner loop, on which I run conventional postwar engines, I have a Lionel Fastrak 6-12062 crossing gate. I can see that it was designed for modern digitally controlled engines with a constant 16-18 volts on the track. However, this is too high a voltage for conventional engines. To operate them at a normal speed, 12 volts is plenty.
When a conventional engine crosses the gate there is a voltage drop when the gate activates which slows the engine and the gate cyclic mechanism and bells don’t operate properly at the low voltage. There was no mention in the instructions about running this gate from a fixed accessory voltage but does anyone know if it can be wired that way?
Thanks for your help and Be Safe,

Chris
