With my daughter's help, I am going upstairs later today to get to the trainroom to fire up my standard and LGB loops. I can get up safely with my right arm on the handrail, but coming down side-stepping requires both hands and with the cast on my left wrist, the fingers are not as free to hold on, so I will need someone in front of me as I come down to be safe! Hopefully, all will transpire!

Best wishes and safe train operations
The other challenge will be to operate the controls with my right hand instead of my normally used left. I have a Z-4000 and a DC power supply and throttle for the LGB. Turning the Monster surge protector located on the floor to "on" probably could be done with the tip of my cane. Where there is a will, there is a way!
Will keep all posted! :-)
Videos of the triumphant scene please!
Today is the day to give this a try!
SUCCESS!

Video would not post! :-(
Glad to hear the mission was a success Art !!!
How tempted were you to stay upstairs and instruct food , water and a bucket for toileting be shuttled to you at regular intervals so you didnt have to come back down lol!
Was able to reach all controls and ran all three loops. Hardest part was getting up with just one arm from my office swivel chair which needs to be raised about three inches. Came down stairs safely and slowly with my daughter in front. Mission accomplished!
FYI: The G gauge loco in the photo above is a fine PIKO 1:26 model of a Deutche Reichsbahn BR-24 loco. The two standard gauge locos are a dark gray Lionel Classics 2-400E and an MTH dark green Tinplate Traditions 408E.
Congratulations Art!! I hope you mend quickly!
AWESOME - so glad you shared the success. Nicely done sir.

Self-isolation, except for dialysis and MD visits, has become a little boring, so the visit to the trainroom was a treat. I also have my digital scanner radio on my desk there and can monitor local police and fire dept activity. It has a digital touch screen and is quite sophisticated with its preloaded software for my TN county! It is a Uniden Homepatrol II. A compact base and mobile unit with very good audio.
