Hi Everyone,

I wanted to upload some pictures of my first attempt at weathering a boxcar and get some constructive feedback. I used a cheap plastic Santa Fe boxcar and Bragdons weathering powders, than sealed it with dullcote. Comments and critiques are appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

I am not a fan of weathering, but the car body looks good.  The trucks could use some work. Wheels are never painted, so should be rust.  Side frame castings are dipped into asphalt at the foundry and are rarely painted.  Not sure what color they should be, maybe gray with dirt, usually not much rust.  Wheel tread and flange would be polished steel, polished by the brake shoes.  Ends of the cars may have rust and grease streak up the ends at the rail location from wheels on adjacent cars.  No paint on coupler, so more rust there.
