If this has been covered before,  I apologize for asking, but I did a search and could not find this exact topic. I have a PS3 RTR set that came with the Remote commander. It works fine. I tried to run this engine in conventional mode, with out the remote, using a Z1000 controller and transformer. Could not get any response from the engine, no sound, lights, etc. I have been told if should work in conventional mode.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

David,

we thought about the caps and did give 30-60 sec. Actually i first tried it in conventional with a Z 4000 at our train show yesterday. when I got home I tried it with the DCSRC, it worked fine, and then disconnected that and went with a Z1000, to no avail.

Will be running it in DSC here at home, so conventional is really not needed, but would be nice it i wanted to take to another layout.

Thanks to all the responses

Ken, When you say nothing in conventional, the engine doesn't start up, headlights come on, basic sounds?  It just sits there dead?  If so I would be interested in MTHs response.

If it does startup just won't move, I would try a transformer (feature) reset and use the throttle vice direction button and see if that works.  If not, use DCS to do a reset with the system, then shut power off to the track/engine.  Then try it in conventional.  If still no joy, last resort is a sound file reload.  After that MTH needs to figure this one out.  G

GGG,

When putting power to the track in conventional mode, nothing happens. no headlight, no sound, nothing. If and when I figure this out I will post

Ken, Can you measure voltage on the track when using your conventional set up to make sure you are getting power to track.  (I don't know how complex your set up is, or maybe a bad transformer lead).

Only other thought I have is that MTH has seen the wire bundle in vicinity of the PS-3 boards cause issues with performance.  Maybe there is some interferrence causing the board not to respond in conventional.  G
