Do all these files need to be loaded, they are in the zip file when I extracted it.
Do not extract the second zip file, the loader will process all the chain files by just pointing it to the inner zip file.
Ok got it thanks
Is there a recommended cable length for programming the locomotive either from PC to TIU or from TIU to track or both?
Sometimes programming PS/3 stuff benefits from a 20-25 foot cable from the output of the TIU to the locomotive. Also, programming on a short test track is preferable to doing it on a layout.
I made a test track about 40” long. also made cables (22awg)to go from the TIU to the track lock on. Is this acceptable?
I have a similar setup, and my cables from the TIU to the test track are only about 5 feet long. I've loaded several hundred (at least) PS2 and PS3 engines with sound and chain files on that rig.
Perfect, later in the week I plan to try it. Have to go to one of the nascar shops to do some warranty work on some machines tomorrow so no chance before Wednesday.
Ok I'm back
Got the loco powered up, so far all looks ok lights, bell, horns all work and can move forward and reverse
The preloaded files work now I want to load the correct files but I get no engine on track message from the DCS loader program
I have power all off and back on still same what am I missing?
You're running with DCS on the test track and you're getting "no engine"?
Yes, I believe so.
I powered up the locomotive pre PS3 instructions first tested horn bell, forward and reverse movement all was ok, I did have to correct the motor connections to get the correct direction but it is working as is.
there is some diesel files pre loaded .
when I try to load or save the files to or from the locomotive I get the no engine message
I get it on the remote as well
I can also fire front and rear couplers
I am using Z4000 transformer
I think I may be running in conventional
Is there another TIU close that is powered up?
No I only have the one
What did you do with the DCS/DCC switch? If you didn't use it did you connect the two wires to the switch together? If not the locomotive will not operate in DCS, but instead DCC. Wires connected together = DCS, wires separated = DCC.
