Great-looking set, and yes, that Tom Snyder video is very distracting. As others have stated here, welcome to the shiny side!

A number of the modern locomotives (non reproductions) have a decent look to them, but there is no beating late standard gauge passenger cars. I am a standard gauge (well, really tinplate) fan as well, but unlike you do not possess any standard gauge, mainly the smaller O gauge cousins. ARNO knows a lot about this subject.

Holy Cats. Fabulous videos, thanks for the links, will have to ask more questions about items I saw on the module another day... Can't come to Trainfest, my fiance Tom and I are getting married this May and our big trip for 2016 is the honeymoon to Niagara Falls and NorthCarolina. 

You started with a very cool set.  And, I see you have the extra add-on stock car.  You need to track down the other add-on car:

Congrats and good luck on your engagement.  May I suggest a pre-honeymoon in York this April?  

The stock car came with the others in my set. Any other add-ons along with this one?

Thank you. Though I am always overwhelmed by all the SG gents that have row upon row of shelves of trains on their walls, I'm just not in that economic or train real estate reality:/

First of all welcome to the forum.  This is a great place to learn and be entertained at the same time.

Whenever I read about someone starting off in standard gauge I have a sigh of regret.  I received my first Lionel 0-gauge  train in 1955 and caught the addiction then.  But  I have always longed for standard gauge because of their size and beauty.  My wife however does not share my longing. All I have to do is start thinking about buying just a couple of standard gauge trains and somehow she can sense what I am thinking and tell me enough is enough is enough!  

I hope you post photos as your empire expands.
