Help deciding?

I'm thinking about upgrading my layout. Here is my dilemma. With MTH closing its doors, what system do I go with? I currently own 2 MTH Subway sets (both Proto 2). I will add 2 more Proto 3 engines, one Steam and one diesel. I will never run more than 2 engines at a time. My layout is a single loop with a yard section. Do I go with the basic DCS Explorer unit. Or do I go with the full WTIU unit? Are AIU going to be produced again? Nobody seems to have any. Would love to hear some suggestions

I always kind of plan for the unexpected. What you don't want today is your want of tomorrow. I would plan ahead just in case and go with the full DCS, you never know if you will change your mind. When I built my layout I did not want a steam engine, however I made the curve radius as big as they had, just in case I decide down the road to get a Big Boy, but that is just me. If you can afford it go with the better system.

Jim I feel the same way. My only concern is if AIUs will be available. For my small layout I would need 1 WTIU and 2 AIUs since I have a lot of accessories

It looks like I will go the DCS route. Now for a power question. I have 2 Z1000 bricks. Will this be enough to power my system?
