Picked up my first MTH engine with smoke, and wow, you all aren't kidding when you say they put out a lot!  But the box it came in doesn't seem to match.  How can I tell which model number it is exactly?  It's a Union Pacific Baldwin AS-616, but I don't have a full DCS system yet, so I can't figure out if it's Proto 1 or 2, and it seems like MTH has made a lot of different versions of that engine.

Road number is 1260 and I get two clanks on startup - looks like it's a PS-1.

It appears that you have a 20-2138-1 from 1996.

MTH has a pretty good search feature on their web site.  I found this list by searching for:

 

Choose a product class:  Diesel/Electric Locomotive

Choose a Roadname:  Union Pacific

Add a description:  AS-616

 

The "Add a Cab Number" feature would have also been useful in this case.
