I want to create a block in front of bridge that is unpowered until bridge is lowered providing a power connection. As the bridge location does not lend itself to using the provided " U" channel how can the block be wired without using the |U| channel? This is my first forum post and all advise is appreciated.

You don’t need the “U”, it just helps align the track. The lead from pole 5 provides power to the insulated approach section. The lockon shown in the instructions just provides the connection. The recommended 4 track insulated section can be curved, if necessary, but the first section on either end of the bridge should be straight, even if only a half section.
Dan, thank you for your reply. The instruction sheet does not identify poles. Where is pole 5 which can be wired hot to the center rail of my Atlas 21st century insulated block section? Again, thanks.
If you look at your manual, on page 3. The terminal to use is the bottom rightmost clip, marked “to center rail clip on U channel”. I was looking at the original 313 but the idea is the same.
