I'm in the process of repainting a bay window caboose {yes- artistic creativity here} for Illinois Central in the late '60s white/orange...got the decals ordered but need a correct orange paint- what are you folks using?

I just got a lionel GP-9 shell in IC colors and want a matching caboose for it. Help...

Thanks guys...I did an "Illinois Central orange" search before posting this and got nothing but pics of engines...nice, but no cigar for paint references of any kind, so I thought I'd reach out here to see what everyone was using for paint colors.

The other day I ordered my O scale decals thru Dan at paducah so that's set...his reference was mixing two colors till happy..I was hoping for more of a "this paint" sort of answer.

The best match for a 'fresh from the shop' IC orange is ScaleCoat II "New Haven Orange" over a light grey primer.

The prototype problem with IC orange was if faded fast, from orange to 'Creamsicle' orange, to orange tinted white. Complete repaints were often needed within 5 years of the last paint job.
