I'm using Zstuff 1010 crossing gates. I use them with an isolated rail. When I put it on a test track and jump the two outer rails it works fine. When I put it on my layout and jump the two outer rails nothing happens. I've used accessory power, track power made sure everything is connected properly. red to power, black to common, blue to isolated rail. should note, worked for a day or so then stopped working.
Also have an MTH shanty shed. While it comes with an on and off button I rather use again an isolated track and Scotts odds and ends relay (different part of the layout from crossing gate) Again it worked for a day or two (when train goes by man comes out when train leaves man goes back in). Well, man comes out ok , but won't go back in. Works fine with the on/off button , but not the relay. I tried it several relays. they do not work on the layout and or the test track.
