That's what I thought would have to be done. Thanks for the confirmation.

Why doesn't someone just start having these pieces made and start selling them. They couldn't cost that much could they?

With the cost of a scale sized car between $50 and $90 these days, do we really want to spend more money? Is it really that hard to modify the truck as shown? Come on now!

It matters not to me what it costs. The end goal is that the car will couple to other two rail cars with a matching Kadee in rail tester.
In HO Scale plastic wheels and couplers are thrown away while Metal Wheels and couplers are added. Nothing else needed to be considered, except maybe a reamer. A long time ago I was growing tired as a child of seeing plastic wheels leave gunk on the track. I think it was a 1.50 Kadee Box car kit at the time and I saw some completely assembled brass trucks for like 8 bucks each and Father told me that they cost too much. Now we pay 30 dollars for the same car RTR.
I am getting ready to pick up some smaller caliber spent brass at the range and take them home to see what I can do to make them fit the O scale holes. If they turn out promising, it should then become VERY easy to convert.
I hope Pete comes back and shows his technique. I have a bunch to replace.
